Microsoft proprietary help format used in Windows 98/Me/2000 and in many Windows applications

help has ToC with optional index and fulltext search

help content is stored as HTML pages

free utility HTML Help Workshop is used to compile all HTML files together with ToC, index and fulltext index into single file

control files for compiler are text and HTML based, thus it is possible to generate them by XSLT (or even DSSSL)

HTML Help viewer is standard part of newer versions of Windows, can be installed into legacy systems

partial functionality is available in any Java enabled Web-browser (no fulltext)

closed format, but very fast and easy to use
